Snakefinger's Kill the Great Raven 45 from, ulp, 1979. Can that be true? I was lucky enough to see Snakefinger perform in 1987 a couple of months before his untimely passing - even chatted with him. He was very nice to us scraggly teenagers. The amazing cover is by Gary Panter, who did a lot of great covers for Ralph Records (home of the Residents) in exchange for studio time, I'm told. This one reminds me of Karl Wirsum's Screamin' Jay Hawkins lp cover. Perhaps that should make an appearance one day along with some more Panter stuff. |
