One of the best gifts I was ever graced with - from a non-believer!
My b/f at the time brought this handcarved mahogany crucifix home for me from his trip to visit paternal relatives in the Phillipines - this is from Manila but he was on his way to the northern part of the island (Cabugao - near Bagiuo City - where the native language is *not* Tagalog!). . .
The corpus was fastened with pegs, I could remove it.
It was lost when moving here (escaping California) in 1998
I spoke with the then former b/f one last time before I moved here - I was thrilled to learn he had settled down at last, had married and was the very proud dad of a young son!
This is the best photo I have of it. From 1986, taken by me - (re-photographed from my K1000 shot - the original is MUCH better but the new scanner ain't connected yet!) - just before I moved out of the beautiful flat (the building had been sold) where I had lived for 5+ happy years . . .
