Early demonstrators against the Iraq war, Washington, DC, 10/02. The owners of the hair were dressed as outrageous parodies of rich ladies. They carried signs that showed a smiling Bush with the single word, "Obey," another that said "Perma War." It was serious (the situation was already Orwellian) but somehow lighthearted. Bush hadn't actually done much yet. It was still possible to believe that the U.S. public would see through his disastrous obsessions. |
