ONE TIRED PONY
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ !#&@<%)$"*¢©''®?!#&@<%) $"*¢©''®? UPDATE: We got some cash AND an idea . . .
You Might Be a Redneck If. . . you buy a house and find two tratcor tires on it and find more than ten non-vehicular uses for them . . . which we have done!
We not only put in shavings, we put the two tractor tires along one side of the side and Boss LEANS on them to take his weight off his legs! AND he cannot POSSSIBLY lie down - we HOPE~~~~ !#&@<%)$"*¢©''®?!#&@<%)$"*¢©''®? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~
Boss went down again Saturday night - the third time.
He went down at about eleven - he was flat out.
The guys went out to flip him over as he was in his bad leg and would *never* be able to get up on that side (flipping a flat-out horse is not something you try at home folks - unless you have a "me" to coach you).
AND Derrick the Fencemaster had to open and re-fence his "stall" as he was now (after being flipped) too close to the side and could not get leverage to get up.
They ALSO propped him up with tires. He still didn't want to get up.
So they doctored him and fed him and watered him and left him sitting up to rest.
At 0430 he was flat out again. Ed went out and propped him up and watered him.
At 0700 he was flat out again. Ed went out to ditto ditto ditto.
After several hours he still could not or would not get up. Ed was exhausted, Derrick had had more sleep. So they propped him up AGAIN and Ed took a nap while Derrick kept an eye on him.
He got up sometime around 1300, how he managed Derrick doesn't know, BUT he did have to peeeeeeeeeeee so maybe that did it. (Previously he would pee a little laying down, but they have reallllly big bladders . . .)
Now that he was up Derrick tied him up (no no, that means "put his halter on and tied the lead rope to a post"), did all the "do's", and then built a "chute" around him.
Boss now has big abrasions on his "good" haunch and hind leg and he strained or twisted his "wrist" (fetlock) on his left front leg. So he is hurting a lot.
The good news? These are minor compared to the other. And LOTS of edema gunk came out - his bad hind leg is almost down to normal size.
The wound has a long way to go to heal but it IS open, draining, and *******clean******* of any infection at all.
He is one very tired pony.
We're pretty tired too, especially Ed who barely slept last night. He's out now, though. He and Boss.
