Of course I am still puzzling over why we use any religious text AT ALL to swear in anybiody for anything, including courtrooms that cannot display the Ten Commandments, yet as a prospective juror, I HAD to swear on a (protestant) Bible (I am Catholic). I swore on the basis of the LAW in my mind, because I believe in separation of Church and State. (not that there is anything wrong with a "protestant" Bible (I have several editions myself), it just isn't the same as the one used in Catholic/Orthodox churches. Seven books were removed from the OT (because the Jews had done the same, AFTER the time of Christs' death) at the time of The Great Schism/Reformation - 1500's)
