		celticvoice	Edema can be caused by many things in horse or humans or any mmamal; in Boss's case not an infection but simply trauma (falling) and the wound - the body issues fluid (blood and water kind of) to surround and stiffen the point of pain to keep him still. Unfortunately, the body can "over do" it - in his case os much so that he could not walk. His gash (see FocalAnLae for blurred shots of it (it's gory) was VERY deep . . .
		celticvoice	Now the edema is draining, great pockets of it, gooey, icky stuff, but not smelly or anything. What is left is liquifying so the body can resorb it. Yes I was worried out of my MIND.
