		nick_n_lily	It's the slash on the trunk of the pine, left by the turpentine gatherers. They hang a clay "bucket" on a crude metal "V" nailed to the base of the slash. Like gathering maple sap. I thought it looked like an African carving and fooled around with it in Photoshop to try and emphasize that aspect of it.
